During the 1980s and 90s Greenham Common became synonymous with the Cold War and the peace protests against the storage of Nuclear Missiles at the site. The strength of these protests was significant and Greenham became an international icon for peace against Nuclear War.
In 2000, Greenham was returned to Common land, nearly 60 years after it was first used for military purposes in World War 2. Slowly nature has been reasserting its dominance over this artificial asphalt landscape.
Over the last 3 years I have been visiting Greenham, capturing the transient nature of the landscape through the changing seasons, creating a photographic archaeology of an important historical landscape.
