Greenham Common. 2006-2010

During the 1980s and 90s Greenham Common became synonymous with the Cold War and the peace protests against the storage of Nuclear Missiles at the site. The strength of these protests was significant and Greenham became an international icon for peace against Nuclear War.

In 2000, Greenham was returned to Common land, nearly 60 years after it was first used for military purposes in World War 2. Slowly nature has been reasserting its dominance over this artificial asphalt landscape.

Over the last 5 years I have been visiting Greenham, capturing the gradual, shifting Topography of the area and the tenacious relationship between the organic and synthetic landscapes, echoing a time of direct action and protest that has shifted to other prevalent political ideals in the 21st century.
